Network Peering at a Carrier Neutral Facility

Secure, direct and high-speed connectivity to services offered by Public Cloud Service Providers to the South African Government. This is achieved through a SITA point of presence (PoP) at a Carrier Neutral Facility, with related direct connect services.

The service enables:

 - Connectivity to Public Cloud SaaS services through a private peering point

 - Connectivity to Public Cloud SaaS services through a public peering point

 - Cross connect services within the CNF.

  • Fully Outsourced Dedicated VPN We provide customers with secure fully outsourced and dedicated connectivity that provides data, voice and video capability, aligned to each customer’s specific business requirements.
    • Provides for fully convergent solutions (data, voice & video) as well as taking over ownership of the customer edge, VPN Security and BAS servers.
    • Providing access to Transversal and Unique Systems including disaster recovery services.
    • Access link infrastructure for connectivity of customer sites to the nearest SITA node into the Fully Outsourced Dedicated VPN will be owned and managed by SITA.
    • Provision of customer Edge Router equipment where SITA owns, manages, maintains and supports the site routers.
    • Quality of Service for traffic prioritisation.
    • Network Management Services for operational performance monitoring.

    Unified Messaging (WASP)

    Provide secure communication between citizens and government throughWireless Access Service Provider (WASP) platforms.

    • Bulk SMS – Sent through government systems to citizens.
    • Bulk SMS – Sent through e-mail to citizens.
    • Premium SMS – Receive communication from citizens
    Remote Access

    Provide customers with convenient remote connectivity to the Government Virtual Private Network and IP connectivity between any private network and the Government Virtual Private Network.

    Remote Access (VPNC):

    • Access configured to authorised services within specific VPNs.
    • Provision of connectivity from a fixed line / LAN environment from one VPN into another.
    • Caters for the mobile workforce as it can be used from any place that the client is able to connect to the Internet.

    Remote Access (APN):

    • Providing authorised access into the entire VPN.
    • Provides remote access to VPNs
    • Caters for the mobile workforce as it can be used from any place that there
    • is signal on the cellular network the client is using for their APN service.

    Common Assess Point (CAP):

    • Private peering point for the entire NGN.
    • Access only configured to authorised services within specific VPNs.
    • Maintenance of the CAP routers and any data cables attaching the routers to the
    • Telco devices which facilitate the connections.
    Fully Outsourced Dedicated VPN

    Provide secure fully outsourced and dedicated VPN connectivity that provides Data, Voice andVideo capability, aligned to each customer’s specific business requirements.

    • Dedicated, Fully Managed MPLS VPN services that provides for fully convergent solutions (Data, Voice & Video).
    • Manage Customer Edge Routers (SITA owns site router equipment).
    • Wide range of Bandwidth
    • Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum SLA to suite customer needs
    • Provide access to Transversal and Unique Systems including disaster recovery sites.
    • Access link for connectivity of customer sites to the nearest SITA POP into the Dedicated VPN.
    • Quality of Service for traffic prioritisation.
    • Fully managed via the SITA Network Operations Centre.

    Internet Connectivity

    Provide secure Internet Connectivity:
    • Customers on the Shared Virtual Private Network have access to Shared Internet Connectivity service package for which bandwidth is allocated on a regional basis.
    • Customers on Dedicated Virtual Private Network have access to Dedicated Internet Connectivity service package with bandwidth specifically allocated including local and international control traffic capability.

    • Built in upstream anti-spam and antivirus filtering service which checks and filters mail before it traverses the link between SITA and the ISP. 
      Both inbound and outbound mail filtering (excluding filtering mails internal to a VPN).

    Dedicated VPN

    Provide secure dedicated VPN Network connectivity that enables Data, Voiceand Video capability, aligned to each customer’s specific business requirements.

    Shared VPN

    Provide secure VPN data connectivity services to multiple government departments ina Shared Virtual Private Network environment.Note: This service is not available to new customers. The Service will be terminatedwhen all existing customers have been migrated to a Dedicated VPN Service.

    • Shared MPLS VPN services (Data Only).
