SITA Hackathon to Epitomise the New SITA 

SITA staff were challenged by the organisation to engage with the challenges faced in the country by ordinary South Africans and to then come together as teams to develop a unique Information Technology solution. The critical criteria was that the solution must clearly show engagement with SA’s current and pressing socio-economic issues. 

So SITA employees identified a social problem that can be resolved by technology and they were assisted by available industry players through the process. Eight prototypes that were developed at the SITA Hackathon are now going into production. 

The inaugural SITA Hackathon is to give expression to SITA’s mandate: improving service delivery to the public and promoting the efficiency of government through Information Technology and to emphasise the new exciting SITA and the new shape that it is taking.
